Another glorious day here in Mayo and Mother Earth is wearing her finest Autumn colours and her gifts are plentiful.
Witch Hazel with russet coloured leaves but she is the first in my garden to wear the spring pale yellow gown; always in the first few weeks of a new year.
Apples in the plenty for making chutney; for a wonderful taste of summer all winter long.
Juices of autumn – none better than plums straight from the tree, such a succulent and luxurious fruit. They are for eating now.
Blackberries for wine in front of a blazing log fire when the winter north wind blows. Mother Nature thinks of all.
And berries for the birds.
And as Mother Earth puts on her fine colours, tonight Lady Harvest Moon put on her most vivid orange glow.
